Publisher Kodama Tales Inc., a subsidiary of Kyodo Printing Co., Ltd., announced on its official X account that it will publish Hiroki Miyashita's Me and the Alien MuMu manga in English on February 1, 2026. The first volume is available for pre-order now at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

What is the story about?

The manga follows Mumu, an alien who survived a civil war in which his planet lost all its scientists, leaving only the fools alive. In an attempt to decipher the advanced technology that his people left behind, he decides to infiltrate Earth to study household appliances, which he considers to be sources of all technological knowledge. There he meets Sakurako, a university student who becomes his unexpected companion in adventures on a campus full of crazy situations.

Trajectory of the work

Miyashita debuted this story as a one-shot in Shonengahsha's Young King Ours magazine in April 2019, and two months later began serialization. The publisher published the eighth compilation volume on April 30.

The name of the character and the work refer to the magazine , dedicated to paranormal themes and cited in multiple productions such as Weathering With You and Occultic; Nine. The manga received its television adaptation titled Me and the Alien MuMu, which premiered on April 9. Its second cours began airing on July 2.

Other works by the author and more

Miyashita, along with screenwriter Takeshi Natsuhara, launched the manga Yakuza Reincarnation (Ninkyō Tensei: Isekai no Yakuza Hime) in Shogakukan's Sunday GX magazine in 2019. The work already has 18 volumes published and is distributed in English by Seven Seas Entertainment, which will release volume 15 on April 28, 2026.

In addition to Me and the Alien MuMu, the publisher will launch the manga Smile! (Smiley) by Mitei Hattori, and will begin the English-language publication of Keisuke Itagaki's Baki The Grappler in 24 volumes from October 2026. The company also teased future titles from publishers such as Asahi Shimbun Publications, Coamix, Daiwa Shobo, Hero's Inc., Nihonbungeisha, Shodensha, and Shonengahosha.
