The official account of Gachiakuta World in X reported on September 30 that the anime was positioned as the most watched series of the summer 2025 season on Crunchyroll. The announcement was made with a celebratory message in which they highlighted that the project maintains its "World Takeover".

Gachiakuta debuted on July 6 and was confirmed with two consecutive cours that will span the summer and autumn seasons of 2025. The first episode racked up more than 80,000 likes, surpassing highly anticipated premieres such as My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 (59,000) and Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 (49.4,000).

Doubts about metrics

So far, Crunchyroll has not issued an official statement to confirm the data or specify how it measures its audience. The lack of clear methodology generates uncertainty, in contrast to platforms such as Netflix, which publishes statistics in hours viewed. For example, The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity, released globally on September 7, reported 13.2 million hours viewed in less than a month.

Production and reception

The series adapts the manga by Kei Urana (history, art) and Hideyoshi Andou (graffiti design). It is directed by Fumihiko Suganuma at Bones Film. The story takes place in a floating city where the rich throw garbage and people into the void. There, Rudo is wrongfully accused of murder and sent to the Well, a hell plagued by mutated monsters. To survive, he joins the Cleaners, facing not only the beasts, but also the corruption that banished him.
