Genshin
Impact continues
to be one of the most influential gacha titles on the market almost five years
after its release in September 2020. According to data from
ActivePlayer, the game registered an average of more than 15
million players in September 2025, maintaining a user base
that keeps it among the elite of online role-playing video games.
Strong
performance in 2025
Although
the figures represent a drop compared to previous months, Genshin
Impact remains among the most played titles in the world. By August,
nearly 17 million players had been reported, and for much
of 2024 the game frequently exceeded 20 million
monthly users. Since February 2025, estimates have ranged
from 11 million to 17 million, with a significant uptick in June.
Comparison
with other gacha games
In the face
of the competition, the drop is evident but not critical. Honkai Star
Rail, also from HoYoverse, has an average of 19.4 million monthly players
and 5.2 million daily players, surpassing Genshin's 16
million monthly and 3.5 million daily. However, recent
titles such as Solo Leveling: Arise or Girls'
Frontline: Exilium 2 are far behind in popularity and number of users.
The
long-term impact
Since its
premiere in 2020, Genshin Impact has set a standard within
free-to-play games with gacha monetization. Its open-world exploration formula, dynamic
combat, and an ever-expanding roster have made it a benchmark in the genre.
Even with the natural wear and tear of such a large community, its performance
in 2025 confirms its validity against new rivals and established franchises.
