The year
2025 is slipping through our fingers and the Winter 2026 season
is already knocking on the door. To measure the temperature of Japanese fandom,
the specialized site Anime! Anime! It carried out its
traditional survey of expectations. With a majority female participation (60%),
the results have made it clear that the beginning of 2026 will be the territory
of the great sequels.
1. The
Return of Magic: Sousou no Frieren
With 16% of
the votes, the Second Season of Sousou no Frieren was
crowned the absolute queen. Fans cited the visual beauty of the first season
and the desire to continue seeing how Frieren learns about the
human heart on his new journey. "I can't wait to see what new reunions and
goodbyes await him," commented one respondent.

Sorcerers and Deadly Games: Jujutsu Kaisen
Second
place (12%) went to Jujutsu Kaisen: Culling Game Part 1. The
anticipation to see the post-Shibuya Incident world is very high. Fans are
especially excited to see Yuta Okkotsu and the
controversial Naoya Zenin in action. Those who have already
seen the advance screenings say that the battles are "simply
incredible".
3. The Surprise on Ice: Medalist
Closing the
podium with 9% comes the Second Season of Medalist.
This figure skating anime has captivated with its mix of technical sport and
emotional drama, promising new rivals and a deep evolution for its
protagonists.
