All good
things have an end, even the sports romances that have stolen our hearts.
During the franchise's special event at the Jump Festa, held on
December 21 at the Makuhari Messe, news was revealed that has left fans with
mixed feelings: the Blue Box (Ao no Hako) manga is
entering its final stretch.
The news
came through a letter written by the author himself, Kouji Miura,
who thanked the immense support that the work has received, especially after
its anime adaptation. However, it was his comment about the future of the
series that set off alarm bells: "The serialization is about to celebrate
its fifth anniversary and the end is approaching. Probably."
Miura took
the opportunity to share his current work philosophy: "What I can do is
take responsibility for what is published and sincerely face the task of making
the manga interesting every week." He closed his message with a promise to
his readers: "I promise here that I will continue to write with that
feeling until the end, so I would be happy if you continue to read Blue
Box."
The
legacy of Taiki and Chinatsu
Blue Box began serialization in
the Weekly Shonen Jump in April 2021, narrating the sweet love
story between Taiki Inomata and Chinatsu Kano. The
work has been a resounding success, surpassing 1.5 million copies in
circulation and winning awards such as the "Global Special Award" at
the Next Manga Awards 2021.
Although
the manga is nearing its conclusion, the anime lives on. The first season aired
between October 2024 and March 2025, and a second season has
already been confirmed to arrive in autumn 2026. Do you think the
manga will end just before the new season of the anime premieres?
