The continuation of the demanding balance between high-performance sports aspirations and high school romance already has a return date. The production committee has officially announced that the second season of the anime adaptation of the manga Blue Box (Ao no Hako) will begin airing on Japanese television on October 4, through the Nippon TV network and its affiliated stations.

The update was accompanied by the release of a first animated trailer and a new promotional poster focused on Chinatsu Kano. Through this audiovisual material, viewers can anticipate the direct continuation of the previous events, while confirming the return of the main voice cast and the technical team responsible for the animation.

Blue Box Details

The animation production is maintained at the facilities of the Telecom Animation Film studio. The general direction falls back to Hiroshi Nishikiori, while Konomi Shizuya takes responsibility for the composition of the series and the writing of the scripts. The character designs are adapted by Ai Kikuchi, supported by the soundtrack composed by the renowned Yuki Hayashi (famous for his work in Haikyu!! and My Hero Academia).

About the work

The plot closely follows Taiki Inomata, a young athlete who trains hard with the aim of shortening the distance both sporting and emotional with Chinatsu Kano. This animated sequel will pick up exactly where the first season left off, delving into the progress of their respective competitive disciplines and the genuinely awkward, sweet, and realistic moments that arise when young people begin to deal with unconfessed feelings for each other.

The original work, written and illustrated by mangaka Kouji Miura, began serialization in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2021. The title has achieved immense commercial success thanks to its realistic approach to sports and its mature treatment of romance, accumulating multiple compilation volumes that guarantee plenty of material to continue expanding this acclaimed television adaptation.
