About
the work
The story
takes place in the year 1374, in the midst of the prolonged and turbulent
conflict between the Northern and Southern Courts in Japan. In this
period Oniyasha was born, a boy belonging to a family of sarugaku theatrical
performers. Caught in a silent melancholy, the young man is haunted by a simple
but persistent question: "Why do people dance?" His life takes a
definitive turn the day he witnesses a dance that he genuinely considers
"good", marking the beginning of the young man's career that would
eventually shape the art of Noh and go down in history under the name of Zeami.
The
original work is written and illustrated by Kazuto Mihara, who
began serialization of the title in the pages of Kodansha's Morning magazine
in March 2021. The manga concluded its official publication in November 2022,
being collected in a total of six printed volumes.
