The One-Armed Wolf prepares his leap to the big screen. A new promotional trailer has been released for the anime adaptation Sekiro: No Defeat, revealing that the project will have a theatrical release in Japan during the year 2026.

The trailer includes a sneak peek of the theme song, titled "Blu," a composition taken from the late musician Ryuichi Sakamoto's orchestral album. In addition to its passage through Japanese movie theaters, the production committee confirmed that the series will reach the rest of the world exclusively through the Crunchyroll catalog during the same year.

Through an official statement, the production team confirmed that the work is a 2D animation drawn entirely by hand, categorically ruling out the use of artificial intelligence in its creation process. The animation is made by the Qzil.la studio in collaboration with ARCH and Kadokawa. The project is directed by Kenichi Kutsuna, with scripts by Takuya Sato, character design by Takahiro Kishida, and music composition by Shuta Hasunuma.

About the franchise

The story is set in a reimagined version of the Sengoku period in the late 16th century, a brutal era defined by constant bloodshed in Japan. The plot follows the Wolf, a disgraced and disfigured warrior rescued from the brink of death, who undertakes a relentless mission to rescue his master, a young descendant of an ancient bloodline, while taking revenge against his enemies using a lethal arsenal of prosthetic tools.

The work is based on the award-winning action-adventure video game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki and developed by the FromSoftware studio. The title was published by Activision in March 2019, achieving immediate commercial success by surpassing the figure of two million copies sold worldwide in its first ten days on the market.
