About
the franchise
The story
is set in a reimagined version of the Sengoku period in the late 16th century,
a brutal era defined by constant bloodshed in Japan. The plot follows the Wolf,
a disgraced and disfigured warrior rescued from the brink of death, who
undertakes a relentless mission to rescue his master, a young descendant of an
ancient bloodline, while taking revenge against his enemies using a lethal
arsenal of prosthetic tools.
The work is
based on the award-winning action-adventure video game Sekiro: Shadows
Die Twice, directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki and developed
by the FromSoftware studio. The title was published by Activision in
March 2019, achieving immediate commercial success by surpassing the figure of
two million copies sold worldwide in its first ten days on the market.
