Details
The third
season, which has just finished its successful broadcast cycle after its debut
in early January on streaming platforms and television
networks such as Tokyo MX, featured the return of key talents in both voice
acting and music production that have defined the sound identity of the
franchise.
About the franchise
The plot is
set in the 2020s, an era where autonomous vehicles have become the
technological norm throughout Japan. In stark contrast to this automation, the
story follows Kanata Livington, a young driver who, after
graduating at the top of his class from a prestigious racing school in England,
returns to Japanese soil to compete in the MFG. This special racing circuit
uses real public roads and has gained worldwide fame for its exciting,
dangerous and pure high-speed action of manual driving.
The
original work was written and illustrated by the renowned mangaka Shuichi
Shigeno, world famous for being the creator of the legendary Initial
D series. The manga's publication began in 2017 and officially
concluded in February 2025, releasing its final compilation volume in the
Japanese market in June of the same year. The animated adaptation began its
journey in October 2023, consolidating a cycle of successful installments that
will culminate soon with this upcoming and definitive fourth season.
