The line
that separates human consciousness from the cybernetic machinery is once again
blurred under a new aesthetic vision. The production committee has officially
announced that the new anime adaptation of the legendary manga Ghost in
the Shell (Kokaku Kidotai) will begin airing on Japanese
television during the month of July.
The series
will be part of Kansai TV and Fuji TV's "Ka-Anival!!"
programming block, airing on Tuesday nights. To accompany this distribution
update, the official channels published a second trailer and a new promotional
poster, revealing the visual identity of the project and the creative team in
charge of the animation.
Ghost in
the Shell details
The
animation production takes place in the state-of-the-art facilities of the
Science SARU studio. This sci-fi project will bring together veteran
creatives alongside new talent to reinterpret the tactical operations of the
original franchise.
About the
franchise
The plot
takes us to a dystopian future where the cybernetization of bodies and the
direct neural connection to the network are everyday elements. In this complex
environment, Section 9 operates, an elite police unit specialized in
eradicating technological crimes and cyberterrorism. Led by Major Motoko
Kusanagi, an experienced tactical combat cyborg, the squad must face deadly
hackers and corporate mysteries that challenge the very definition of human and
artificial identity.
Mangaka Masamune
Shirow, creator of the original work, shared a comment to celebrate the
announcement. The author stressed that this production represents the fourth
direct anime adaptation of his printed work, and the tenth if all the films and
series derived from the franchise are counted. The manga revolutionized
the cyberpunk genre since its conception, and this new
television effort seeks to offer a completely renewed visual experience for
modern audiences.
