The anime Draw This, Then Die! Reveals its second trailer and cast

The path to becoming a professional manga artist is full of creative obstacles and unexpected friendships. It has been officially announced that the anime adaptation of the Draw This manga, Then Die! (Kore Kaite Shine) will begin airing on Japanese television in July, joining NTV's "Friday Anime Night" programming block.


The update was accompanied by the release of the project's second promotional trailer, titled "Lost World." This video trailer offers a glimpse into the school life and artistic aspirations of the protagonists on the island of Izu Oshima, while the production committee confirmed the addition of four new voice actresses to the cast of the series.




Details about Draw This, Then Die!


The animation production takes place at the facilities of the Shinei Animation studio. The general direction of the project falls to Hiroaki Akagi. For her part, Hiroko Fukuda assumes the supervision and writing of the scripts, with the assistance of Aki Itami and Kanichi Kato. The character designs are adapted to animation by Takekazu Segawa, while the soundtrack is composed by Hiroaki Tsutsumi.


About the work


The plot follows Ai Yasumi, a first-year high school student who lives on the remote island of Izu Oshima and whose absolute obsession with manga drives her to dream of becoming a creator. After learning that her favorite reclusive mangaka, Yasuno-sensei, will be making a rare public appearance, Ai decides to go and meet her. This meeting catalyzes the formation of a manga club with her friends, facing the rigorous technical and emotional challenges of trying to capture her true feelings on paper.


The original work, written and illustrated by mangaka Minoru Toyoda, began serialization in the pages of Shogakukan's Monthly Shonen Sunday magazine in November 2021. The technical quality of its narrative focused on the creative process has been recognized with prestigious industry awards, including its victory at the 70th edition of the Shogakukan Manga Awards in January 2025, currently with eight compilation volumes in circulation.
