International recognition of Japanese animation continues to break barriers in the American entertainment industry. Yesterday, the Hollywood Creative Alliance officially announced the nominees for the next edition of the 2026 Astra TV Awards. Among the various categories that celebrate the best of the small screen, the award for Best Anime Series has become one of the main focuses of attention. This year's list includes big heavyweights who have dominated the conversation over the past few months, such as Sakamoto DaysDandelionMAO, Rooster Fighter, the highly anticipated seventh installment Steel Ball Run: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and the acclaimed magical adaptation Witch Hat Atelier.

A triumph for vocal performance

In addition to competing for the top award of the night, Witch Hat Atelier managed to stand out individually thanks to the excellent work of their dubbing talent. Actress Anjali Kunapaneni received a well-deserved nomination for voicing the protagonist Coco, while Joshua Waters will also compete for his portrayal of maestro Qifrey. For its part, the irreverent and original proposal of Rooster Fighter was not far behind, getting a nomination for Patrick Seitz for his acting work. This level of representation shows that international critics are paying close attention to the technical details of each production, consolidating a category that in past editions crowned successes such as Dragon Ball Daima and even awarded honorary awards to film productions such as Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle.

The great night of animation

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on August 15 in the city of Los Angeles. With a voting board made up of journalists, actors, producers and other media professionals, these awards have positioned themselves as an excellent thermometer of the cultural impact that Asian series have in the West. For fans of these franchises, seeing their favorite characters sharing the same space as the multimillion-dollar Hollywood productions is undeniable proof that the medium has ceased to be a niche market to become a global phenomenon of absolute prestige.

Knowing that this year's competition includes adaptations highly anticipated by manga readers and works that shine for their immense visual quality
