There were visuals, there were advertisements,
but until now there was no real animation. Psyren's second
teaser changed that: for the first time the project shows animated images,
giving the most concrete look to date of what Toshiaki Iwashiro's manga
adaptation will look like when it arrives in October 2026. The
video includes subtitles in multiple languages, which already says something
about the project's international ambitions.
The video is short but it does its job: it
introduces the central premise of the story, introduces Ageha Yoshina,
and gives a first impression of the mysterious, high-stakes tone that
defines Psyren. The teaser suggests an adaptation that aims to
capture the mix of everyday life and abrupt encounters with a dangerous
alternate world that made the manga a favorite of Shonen Jump readers during
its serialization.
The Production Team
The direction is in charge of Katsumi
Ono at the Satelight studio, with Shin
Yoshida supervising the scripts and Akira Okuma in
charge of character design. The music is composed by Takashi Omama, Tatsuhiko
Saiki and Shu Kanematsu.
About Psyren
Psyren is a manga by Toshiaki Iwashiro published
in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump between 2007 and 2010,
gathered in 16 volumes. The story follows Ageha Yoshina, a high
school student who finds a mysterious red phone card that drags him to a hidden
and dangerous world called Psyren, where he will have to survive alongside
others involved while deciphering the secrets of that place. The series built a
strong readership during its time thanks to its combination of mystery, action,
and supernatural survival elements, and its anime adaptation comes more than a
decade after its serialization concluded.
