The suffering never ends when it comes to
descending the most dangerous pit in the anime world. To the joy (and terror)
of the community, the production committee behind Made in
Abyss has just released a spectacular promotional trailer for their
new film, titled Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi (Made in
Abyss: Awakening Mystery). The trailer not only confirmed that the film
will be released in theaters in Japan on October 23, but also let
us listen to a preview of the theme song "Chain of the Abyss",
composed by the incomparable Kevin Penkin and performed by the
popular VTuber Mori Calliope.
This new cinematic installment is not a simple
summary or an alternative history, but works as a direct continuation of the
heartbreaking events we experienced in the second television season, The
Golden City of the Scorching Sun. With this project, the Kinema
Citrus studio and director Masayuki Kojima inaugurate
a new series of films that will adapt the following arcs of the manga written
by Akihito Tsukushi. The franchise continues to prove that,
behind its tender and deceptive character design, lies one of the cruelest,
most graphic, and most fascinating narratives in the entire anime
industry.
