If you
thought that the story of an imposing dragon raised by a loving cat would
remain in only twelve episodes, you are very wrong. After the broadcast of the
final chapter of its first installment, the animated adaptation of The Cat and the Dragon (Neko to Ryu) officially confirmed the production of
its second season, promising to bring back this beautiful and comforting
proposal by 2027.
In the
musical section, the series stood out for having the opening theme
"Nekohi", performed by suis from the popular Yorushika
group, while the closing theme "Tadaima no Basho" was performed by
the group shallm. Meanwhile, the voice cast brings together legendary
figures in the industry such as the prolific Takehito Koyasu playing the
imposing but noble Nekoryu, the iconic Kikuko Inoue as the loving
Mama-nyan, Fuka Izumi in the role of Shirotae and Show Hayami as
Kurobane. They are joined by renowned voices such as Noriaki Sugiyama as
Haibuchi, Atsumi Tanezaki in the role of Gally, Junya Enoki as
Stan, Natsuki Hanae playing Monaruka and Tomohisa Aso as
Pomupora, consolidating a luxury cast for this peculiar feline family.
Originally
born as a web novel written by Amara on the site Shosetsuka ni Naro in
September 2013, the work made the leap to the physical format under the label
of the Takarajimasha publishing house with illustrations by Mai Okuma,
managing to accumulate more than 1.4 million copies in circulation. The story
takes us deep into a forest where a small dragon egg is orphaned. Luckily for
the creature, a cat finds him and decides to adopt him as if he were one of her
own offspring, raising the flying giant as if he were a slightly weird
fire-breathing cat. In gratitude for the devotion of his adaptive mother, the
imposing dragon decides to stay in the forest to protect future generations of
felines, being known to humans as the cat dragon and by felines as the beloved
uncle with wings.
