Sometimes
the best stories of love and healing are not born in school competitions or
traditional clubs, but in the simple journey back home. The long-awaited
animated adaptation of the Hokago manga Kitaku Biyori (Walking Home
with You) has officially opened its website to confirm that it is scheduled
to premiere on television in April 2027. The announcement was
accompanied by a first promotional image and a commemorative illustration made
by the author of the work herself, Mai Matsuda.
Although
the project was first revealed in March 2025 coinciding with the release of the
fourth compilation volume of the work, it took about nineteen months to finally
know the first concrete details of the project. With the promotional phrase
"The only requirement to join the club is to come home with me", this
installment promises to become one of the coziest and most comforting romantic
comedies of its opening year.
The plot
introduces us to Shun, a young man who was the big star of the high school
football team until a severe injury completely destroyed his sports dream. Upon
entering high school, Shun feels unmotivated and without a clear direction in
life, until Naoki, a peculiar student of a higher grade, crosses his path.
Naoki decides to add him to his unique unofficial club dedicated to
transforming every walk back home into a real adventure. Between unexpected
detours, search for small treasures and spontaneous moments, Shun's routine
begins to regain the color and joy he had lost.
