Going from
wanting to destroy each other on the battlefield to sharing the same roof and
supermarket shopping sounds like the most chaotic scenario possible, but also
like an absolute gem of romantic comedy. Kadokawa officially confirmed that the
light novel series Soshiki no Shukuteki to Kekkon Shitara Mecha Amai (My
Sweet Marriage to My Ex-Nemesis) will make the leap to television with its
own anime adaptation.
The
direction of this adaptation will be in charge of Atsushi Nigorikawa at Ankichi
Kobo Studios, recognized for his work in installments such as A Journey
Through Another World: Raising Kids While Adventuring. The supervision and
writing of the scripts were in the hands of Keiichiro Ochi, a firm of
weight after the success of The Quintessential Quintuplets and Summer
Pockets, while the character design falls to Yuki Nakano. To
celebrate the announcement, the original artwork's illustrator, Kewi Hayashi,
shared a special commemorative illustration.
Soshiki
no Shukuteki to Kekkon Shitara Mecha Amai is a series of light novels written by Toshimichi
Uzo and illustrated by Kewi Hayashi. The work began publication in
October 2023 under Kadokawa's Dengeki Bunko imprint, maintaining a steady
advance in the print market. The franchise also has a manga adaptation by
artist Shiime, which has been serialized in Dengeki Maoh magazine since
November 2024
The story
follows the lives of Roshi Saigawa and Ritsuka Nagira, two warriors with
superpowers who for years led enemy organizations and maintained fierce duels
without respite. However, when their respective factions disbanded, the rivalry
took an unforeseen turn: they began dating and ended up getting married. Now,
having exchanged weapons for wedding vows, they try to lead a sweet everyday
life as newlyweds, although old combat habits and arguments from the past
constantly reappear in the midst of romance.
