Polygon Pictures animation studios announced via their official site that all of their employees have started working remotely as part of measures to combat the Coronavirus outbreak in Japan. The measures are tentatively scheduled to last from April 8 to May 6, but could be extended as the health situation evolves.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we thank you for your understanding and cooperation on this matter. We as Polygon Pictures pray for the health and speedy recovery of those affected with COVID-19 and we hope that, as a society, we will be able to overcome these turbulent times as soon as possible, ”said the published document.

During this period, production members will communicate with their immediate bosses via phone and email, while meetings will be conducted via videoconferencing. Through Twitter, Polygon Pictures President Shuuzo Shiota commented that because the company handles an extremely large amount of information, they will carry out their work through private networks (VPNs). Due to this, the speed of workers' internet connection will be massively affected.

Polygon Pictures studios are perhaps recognized in the animation industry for both seasons of the Ajin anime, and for the Godzilla film trilogy: Kaijuu Wakusei. The studio also starred in the 2008 film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which won an Emmy Award for its outstanding animation. The studios recently produced the movie Human Lost released in November 2019.

Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe declared a state of emergency in the prefectures of Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Osaka, Hyogo and Fukuoka on April 7, with an expiration date of May 6. The main facilities of the Polygon Pictures studios are located in the Minato neighborhood in Tokyo.
