In the twenty-second compilation volume of the Minari Endo manga, Hatenkou Yuugi revealed that the manga will come to an end within two volumes.

In September 2017, publisher Ichijinsha announced that the manga would be entering its argumentative final arc in December of the same year. Endo stated on Twitter in November 2017 that he originally planned to finish the play in volume # 22.

Endo began publishing the manga in Square Enix's Monthly G Fantasy magazine and later moved it to Ichijinsha's Monthly Comic Zero Sum magazine. In serialization since November 1999, the work inspired a ten-episode anime adaptation released in January 2008 and produced by Studio Deen under the direction of Nobuhiro Takamoto and scripts written by Yasuhiro Imagawa.
