PlayStation enthusiasts were devastated by announcements of delays on key titles like Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us 2 especially being possibly the last major exclusives for the current PlayStation 4, on the brink of its successor.

However, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Worldwide Studios gave the pleasant surprise on Monday that these delays due to the current coronavirus pandemic will not be as long as previously thought.

Hermen Hulst, leader of Worldwide Studios, reported that the new release dates will be June 19 for The Last of Us Part II and July 17 for Ghost of Tsushima.

The long-awaited title focused on feudal Japan will not come as late as feared.

"I personally want to congratulate and thank the Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch Productions teams for their accomplishments, as we know that it is not an easy task to reach the finish line under these circumstances," said Hulst. "Both teams have worked hard to deliver world-class experiences, and we look forward to seeing what you think of them when they launch in just a few months."

Sony also appreciated the support, patience, and trust that the global PlayStation community has exercised.

This, of course, will speed up Sony's efforts for the plans and launch of PlayStation 5 by the end of 2020, if everything continues according to plan and the contingency for COVID-19 ceases soon.
