One Piece concert and other events in Japan postponed

On the official site for the One Piece franchise, it was announced that the concert entitled “One Piece Orchestra Concert Tanaka Kouhei Sakka Katsudou 40 Shuunen Kinen” will be postponed due to the influence of the new coronavirus disease pandemic (COVID-19).


The Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra had scheduled this concert for June 20 at Suntory Hall in Tokyo. Other events and performances that have been canceled or postponed in Japan for the same reason include:


  • The annual “Tokyo International Toy Expo”, which was scheduled to take place June 11-14 at the Tokyo Big Sight.
  • The "Tokyo Wonder Festival", which postponed the holding of its second event of the year for next November 1 in Chiba. The event was scheduled to take place in August.
  • The “Final Fantasy VII Remake Orchestra World Tour” world tour has postponed three of its completion dates to 2021, including Los Angeles (June 14, 2020 to March 6, 2021), Toronto (June 26-27, 2020 to May 20-21, 2021) and Singapore (July 4, 2020 to January 23, 2021). The other dates still stand.
  • On the official site for the theater plays based on the Nitroplus and DMM Games franchise, a rescheduling of the performances was announced. The works will be carried out on June 12-14 in Tokyo, from June 23 to July 5 in Kobe, from July 10 to 12 in Fukuoka, and from July 17 to August 2 in Tokyo.
  • The staff of the “World Cosplay Summit” event announced that this year's event will be canceled, and that its annual completion in 2021 will be summarized.
  • Bandai has postponed the Gunpla Builders World Cup 2020 event. The company plans to hold a combined event titled "Gunpla Builders World Cup 2020-2021".
  • The cancellation of the “Hiroshima International Animation Festival” event that was scheduled for the month of August was announced. Instead, the event will be held online.
  • The live concert "Live for All Stars" presented by Maaya Uchida and scheduled for July 5 has been canceled.
  • Konami announced that the promotional events “Organized Play”, for the Yu-Gi-Oh! scheduled for May 31 will be postponed.
