On the official site for the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Yukiwo, Jashin-chan Dropkick, the cancellation of the special Blu-ray / DVD compilation launch event was announced.
The cancellation was justified by the production team stating that the effects of the new coronavirus disease pandemic (COVID-19) still prevail in Japan, therefore, to safeguard the safety of both attendees and staff, made the decision to cancel the event.
Yukiwo has published the manga on the Flex Comix publisher's Comic Meteor website since April 2012. The publisher published the fourteenth compilation volume of the manga on April 11.
The play inspired a twelve episode anime adaptation produced by Nomad Studios, directed by Hikaru Sato and scripts written by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu and Momoko Murakami, released in July 2018. A second season is currently broadcast on Japanese television, with the same production team, since last April 6.
