Girls und Panzer director announces new project

Director Tsutomu Mizushima (Girls und Panzer, Shirobako, Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai) posted an update on Twitter mentioning that "he is close to starting a new project that he has been planning for years." Some answers tried to guess the project, with assumptions like the end of the series Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san or a new project by Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan. However, Mizushima clarified that both assumptions were incorrect, although he expressed his appreciation for the interest in his work.



Mizushima is perhaps best known for having directed several productions for the Girls und Panzer franchise, as well as the Shirobako series and his film. Most recently, the director was in charge of directing the 2019 anime, Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai, and the Shirobako movie that premiered in Japan on February 29.

Mizushima is currently working on the third of six films in the Girls und Panzer das Finale film project, as well as the compilation film Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai Kanzenba, which is slated to be released in theaters in Japan on September 11.

Synopsis of Girls und Panzer

The story unfolds in a world in which WWII tanks are held for a series of war practices and competitions. Miho Nishizumi, a girl from a prestigious family, is traumatized by an event from the past and is transferred to the Ooarai Girls Academy to “supposedly” move away from the sport of “sensha-dou”, since, according to rumors, this school had stopped practicing it.

However, shortly after Miho begins his new life at school and makes new friends, the student committee decides to reopen the sensha-dou practices, and coerces Miho, the only student with practice experience, To join.
