On the official site for the idol franchise Aikatsu !, it was announced that two animated series will begin to be distributed for free through the Bandai Namco Pictures YouTube channel, starting on August 18.
Every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. an episode from the first season will be published, while at 8:30 p.m. an episode from the third season (Aikatsu Friends!) Will be broadcast. The franchise debuted with an arcade card game released in October 2012. The game inspired an anime adaptation aired between 2012 and 2016, as well as three animated films. The second installment in the franchise, Aikatsu Stars !, inspired an anime adaptation in April 2016, as well as an animated movie in August of the same year.
The third installment titled Aikatsu Friends! premiered in April 2018 simultaneously with another card arcade game. A second season titled Aikatsu Friends! ~ Kagayaki no Jewel ~ premiered in April 2018 and takes place two years after the second season. Finally, the anime Aikatsu on Parade! premiered in October 2019 and featured several characters from previous franchise series.
