The manga company ComicSmart Inc., announced that it has established the digital animation studio Qzil.la (pronounced "kujira", the Japanese word for "whale"). Producer and Production I.G studio veteran Shun Fukudome has become the company's producer and representative director, while Masayoshi Tomoya and Takefumi Okada will serve on the board of directors.
The company seeks to reduce work problems with animators while maintaining a high quality of work with a rapid production process. On the other hand, ComicSmart is also the owner of the Ganma! Manga service, where works such as the manga written and illustrated by Ai, Million Doll, and the manga written and illustrated by Fumi Ayamiya, Otona no Bouguya-san ( Armor Shop for Ladies & Gentlemen), which have inspired anime adaptations.
The company was also part of the production table in collaboration with Mangamo and Avex Pictures in the launch of the manga Nihon Chinbotsu 2020 (Japan Sinks: 2020), the series adaptation of the same name produced by the Science SARU studios in 2020. This animation project is available through the Netflix platform.
