Japanese portal Yahoo! News Japan published an article titled "Hiroyuki Kishi sweeps the floor with the controversy caused by the Kimetsu no Yaiba franchise. "You can't explain something to your children, then you're stupid," he asserted," where different TV personalities downplayed the controversy caused on social networks by the second season of Kimetsu no Yaiba.

"Hiroyuki Kishi, 58, a former bureaucrat who was a member of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and a graduate of Keio University, appeared as a guest on Kansai Television Network's variety show, "Heartfelt Summit!" aired on March 6. There he issued a commentary on the recent controversy generated about the second season of "Kimetsu no Yaiba"."

"Regarding Kimetsu no Yaiba, the new season with the subtitle "Yuukaku-hen" will be aired this year. However, the title and subject matter has generated some degree of controversy on social networks, especially among Japanese parents, who have expressed comments such as "I can't explain a topic like Yuukaku (Red Light District - Whorehouse District) to my children if they ever ask me" and "It is undeniable that this season will show and glorify the discrimination to women that was experienced back then.""

"In response, Kishi noted, "When you explain the workings of a brothel to a child, you're obviously not going to explain exactly what they are, but rather embellish the reality so that later in life they will discover the concept on their own. I think the argument that they won't be able to explain the subject matter to their children is pretty stupid. And those parents who are not able to educate their children are consequently stupid as well.""

"Lawyer and TV personality Noriko Miwa, agreed with Kishi's opinion, adding, "Showing discrimination against women in the past is a tool to assess the situation today, and serves as a reminder of a dark period in history. Therefore, I think it is worse that they try to hide the reality. It is important for young people to know and realize that this kind of thing was a reality so that they can appreciate the situation they live in today. It's not something that should cause controversy.""
