Number of print copies of Weekly Shonen Jump continues to decline

The Japan Magazine Publishers Association (JMPA) revealed that the number of outstanding print copies of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine fell to 1,371,818 copies during the period from July to September 2021. The decline continues to decline constant number of copies in circulation that the magazine has suffered in at least the last eight years, approaching half the figure for the period of January-March 2014, which amounted to 2,715,834 copies.



The circulation copies of Weekly Shonen Jump fell below two million in 2017 to 1,915,000 copies. It then fell below 1.6 million during the January-March 2020 period to 1,572,833 copies, and then fell below 1.5 million to 1,475,000 during the October-December 2020 period.

Weekly Shonen Jump is the world's best-selling manga magazine, as well as one of the longest-running in the history of the industry, with the first issue published on August 1, 1968. The magazine's manga series are targeted at Young and male readers usually contain many action scenes and a fair amount of comedy. The chapters of the series that appear in the magazine are compiled and published in compilation volumes under the label " Jump Comics " every two to three months.
