During Crunchyroll 's announcement panel at the Anime Expo convention in Los Angeles, it was announced that the romantic comedy manga series written and illustrated by Fumita Yanagida , Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko! ( Tomo-chan Is a Girl! ) will be adapted into an anime. The series is scheduled to premiere in January 2023 under the production of Lay-duce studios
The first visual for the series was also released.
The author, Fumita Yanagida published a special illustration to celebrate the announcement.
Yanagida began publishing the manga in April 2015 in Saizensen magazine and ended it in July 2019 with a total of eight compiled book volumes published under the Kodansha umbrella .
