Japanese leaker Ryokutya confirmed that the ninth part of the manga written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki , JoJo's Bizarre Adventure , titled The JOJOLands , will begin serialization in the February 17, 2023 issue of Shueisha 's Ultra Jump magazine . The announcement was also confirmed in JOJO Magazine 2022 WINTER .
The ninth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure was first announced in Araki's commentary for the last chapter of JoJolion (the eighth part) in the August 19, 2021 issue of Ultra Jump magazine . It was initially titled simply as “ JOJOLANDS ” in all caps. « Thank you very much for these 10 years of “JoJolion”! Let's rest a bit and meet again with the new “JOJOLANDS” (provisional) », the author wrote at the time.
As it's been over a year since JoJolion concluded , this is the longest hiatus Araki has taken between parts of the series. However, the author kept working during his break, as he drew several illustrations for JOJO Magazine , three chapters of Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan , and a continuation of his novel on how to create manga.
About The JOJO Lands (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure IX)
At the moment the details of the ninth part are unknown. It will take place in the same continuity as the seventh and eighth parts of the series, Steel Ball Run and JoJolion. Araki recently teased Kono Mystery ga Sugoi! that the story would star the descendants of Joseph Joestar. Joseph appeared in the last two chapters of JoJolion in a flashback that, according to Araki, presaged the ninth part.
Araki mentioned in an interview at the beginning of Steel Ball Run that he had already planned the outlines of each part up to the ninth part. In 2007, Araki mentioned that he wanted to portray Morioh in part 9, which ended up being the setting for part 8. In March 2016, Araki stated that he would like to write a future story in Northern Europe or the Scottish Highlands. Also, in October 2019, he stated that he might include Italy in the story after a fan suggested it.
