On the official site for the Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch multimedia franchise, the passing of character designer and animator Takahiro Kimura was reported . The talented artist passed away on March 5 after a constant battle with amyloidosis, an incurable disease.
Takahiro Kimura was in charge of the character designs for the Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch franchise, based on the original designs done by the CLAMP creative group . He was also involved in character design for other franchises such as Scryed , Gun x Sword , Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash , Brigadoon: Marin to Melan , Shinkon Gattai Godannar , Dororon Enma-kun Meeramera , Betterman , Usagi-chan from CUE!! , among many others.
Finally, the official statement wrote:
- Animator Takahiro Kimura, who worked as a character designer for the “Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch” series, passed away on March 5, 2023 after a long battle with amyloidosis, an incurable disease.
- On this occasion we reveal the name of his illness after receiving the corresponding permission from the grieving family. We can only express our gratitude to Mr. Kimura for the numerous animations and illustrations of him, and for the wonderful and moving images he created throughout this franchise.
- The Code Geass staff and all involved pray for the eternal repose of his soul.
