A leak from the upcoming issue of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine confirmed the production of an anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Yuusei Matsui , The Elusive Samurai ( Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi ). Although there is no official announcement, the information is confirmed through the cover of the magazine in question, which also confirms that the production is carried out by CloverWorks studios.
The official information will be announced on March 25 during the AnimeJapan 2023 event , where a special promotional video (possibly with no animation produced yet) and more information about the production team will also be revealed. On the other hand, the domain registration ( https://nigekawa.run/ ) has also been leaked, which again confirms production.
Yuusei Matsui began publishing the manga through Shueisha 's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in January 2021. This was the author's first serialized publication after a long period of five years after the completion of Ansatsu Kyoushitsu ( Assassination Classroom ) . another of his world-famous works that was also adapted into anime almost a decade ago.
Synopsis of The Elusive Samurai
Eight-year-old Tokiyuki Houjou, the next successor to the Kamakura shogunate, is a boy with no talent for anything more than hide-and-seek. One day, his carefree life is turned upside down when Takauji Ashikaga brutally seizes power from the Kamakura, ending his reign. Rescued by a self-proclaimed prophetic priest, Tokiyuki manages to escape with his life. He must now elude those who try to kill him while he recruits comrades who can help him restore the Kamakura shogunate to its former glory.
