Television
Asahi Holdings, which includes the well-known television station, TV
Asahi , has published the explanatory materials of its financial
results for the fiscal year that ended in March 2024. Among the most
notable developments, the company has indicated that they are working to
increase the number of television spots dedicated to anime as part of
its expansion strategy into new fields.
The
announcement is aligned with the new management plan “2023-2025” presented in
March last year, in which the company committed to “challenge new business
fields using content (anime, games, metaverse, etc.).” The increase in
spaces for anime is a concrete advance of this strategic plan .
Currently,
TV Asahi has established anime blocks such as “NUMAnimation” on Saturday nights
in Tokyo and “ANIMAZING!!!” at Asahi Broadcasting in Osaka. “NUMAnimation” has aired
several popular series, including the recent box office hit 'Blue Lock'. With
the plan to increase these spaces, it is expected that there will be a greater
number of animes broadcast simultaneously at night.
As for
“NUMAnimation”, one of the featured projects is the series ' The Dangers in My
Heart ( Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu )', based
on a manga by Norio Sakurai. The second season of this series aired from
January to March, with TV Asahi as the leader of the production committee and
production handled by Shin-Ei Animation, a group company. The first
season achieved notable success in the international market, recording “the
highest overseas revenue record for a NUMAnimation anime series.”
