On July 21, the popular gravure model
and cosplayer
Enako revealed her impressive annual income on Nippon TV's
'Gyoretsu no Dekiru Soudanjo', surprising everyone by confessing that her
income has exceeded 100 million yen (around 642 thousand dollars) annually for
three consecutive years starting in 2021 .
Enako explained that his income comes
from several sources: between 40% and 50% from commercials, 30% from the sale
of photobooks and products, and the remaining 20% from his appearances on
television and YouTube . This revelation underscores
her versatility and success in multiple fields of entertainment. Enako now
excels not only as a gravure model, but also as a cosplayer and voice
actress , activities that have significantly expanded her fan base and
income opportunities.
In 2021, Enako starred on the cover of 15 different
magazines. The following year, she appeared on approximately 70 magazine
covers, although Enako revealed that these jobs were almost unpaid,
sparking controversy . “ They hardly paid me, and when
they did, it was only between 50,000 and 100,000 yen ”
(Between $320 and $640), she confessed, sparking an avalanche of comments on
social media.
Some users expressed disbelief,
considering that these amounts are not insignificant ,
while others questioned the need to constantly talk about their income. A
representative of the entertainment industry commented on Enako's recent
statements:
- « On
the show, Enako mentioned that she makes her cosplay outfits
herself and has invested a total of 20 million yen in them . She
has also previously talked about how she pulled out all her eyelashes to
improve the quality of her cosplay. These details show her extreme
dedication to her art, which has been key to her popularity. "Her
claim that she works almost without pay seems to be a strategy to generate
controversy and maintain her relevance in the public sphere ."
On social networks, opinions are divided. Some
admire his strategic vision and his ability to plan and execute his career,
while others criticize his approach. " I see her as someone who
is showing how to make money in the entertainment industry in new ways ,"
one user commented, while another noted, " Flaunting 'effort'
is part of the business these days." Saying that 'beauty requires effort'
is a common idea these days .
But of course, the debate continues:
- « Artists
have also been working almost unpaid for a long time .»
- « She
is cunning. Use the covers as a form of advertising to improve your level .
- « All
talents do that. They take low-cost commercials or magazine covers to
increase their popularity and awareness .
- « Indeed,
50,000 or 100,000 yen may seem like a lot to the general public. If you
earn that in a single day, it is comparable to a doctor's salary. It is
enviable that someone earns so much that they consider those amounts as
insignificant .
- « A
lot is spent on advertising and business-related expenses. It is something
that can be done .
- « If
you consider all the expenses such as the cost of costumes, makeup and
transportation, it can be said that you do not receive much salary .»
- " It's
true. There is a lot of bad intention in it. It's incomprehensible ".
- " She
is good at provoking others ."
- « The
photos are so retouched that it seems that it would be better to use
artificial intelligence .»
- " That's
why there should be taxes for artists ."
- " Perhaps
because she has a certain degree of popularity, she works without pay and
bears the cost of costumes and makeup ."
