A press release from Aniplex reported that Yokusaru Shibata 's manga , " Tojima Tanzaburo Wants to be a Masked Rider ( Toujima Tanzaburou wa Kamen Rider ni Naritai )", is getting an anime adaptation. The press release did not reveal production details or a scheduled premiere date, but did include an illustration by the author and a comment:

  • « I can't believe the day has come when Tojima Tanzaburo screams at the top of his lungs in the anime! This work is a passionate and simple story of a boy who wanted to be a Kamen Rider and grew up without losing that desire! It's so intense that viewers might end up screaming along with Tōjima! Shouting things like: "Rider Punch!!!!" and "Rider Kick!!!!"! »

For his part, Yokusaru Shibata began publishing the manga through Monthly Comic Magazine HERO'S in May 2019, where it is still in serialization. Given the references to " Kamen Rider ", it is a work in collaboration with Ishimori Production and Toei in Japan , and the franchise will have a special panel during the AnimeJapan 2025 event this month, where more information about the project will be revealed.

Synopsis of Tojima Tanzaburo Wants to be a Masked Rider

The manga follows the story of Tanzaburo Tojima, a man who has just turned 40 and still fervently holds on to a childhood dream: to become a Kamen Rider. Despite being hampered by society and the realities of adult life, his desire to be a hero has never completely faded. However, just as he is about to give up on his dream, fate plays an unexpected card.

Tojima finds himself caught up in a robbery perpetrated by a group posing as Shocker, the infamous criminal organization from the Kamen Rider franchise. This chance encounter puts him at a crossroads: will this be his chance to prove that heroes can exist in real life? Thus begins his fiery fight, in which he will push the limits of his own body and spirit, facing challenges that will test his determination and passion for justice.
