In a previous news item, we had already reported that
the anime adaptation of the novels “ Sword of the Demon Hunter ( Kijin
Gentoushou )” had suffered a delay in its premiere, but that it would
finally arrive on Japanese television on March 31 with a one-hour
special and a two-consecutive-cours format.
Now, the
project's official website has revealed a new promotional video, which in
addition to showing more scenes from the series, lets us listen to the
opening theme song, titled "Continue," performed by the Japanese rock
band NEE . With this, we now have both the opening and ending themes
confirmed, adding even more anticipation to the premiere. The press release
also included a comment from the band NEE about their participation in this
anime:
- We are very honored to have
been selected to perform the opening theme song for the television anime
"Sword of the Demon Hunter." This is the first anime theme song
NEE has collaborated on. It's also the last song written by our vocalist
Ku, who sadly passed away last year. We hope you enjoy both this story and
this song, which hold a very special meaning for us.
Despite
the delays, it remains one of the most anticipated adaptations due to the
popularity of the source material in Japan, and details revealed so far
include:
- Motoo Nakanishi began
publishing the novels through Futabasha in June 2019, completing
them in November 2023 for a total of fourteen volumes. The work also has a
manga adaptation illustrated by Yuu Satomi , which has been
published since September 2021.
- The voice cast includes Taku
Yashiro as Jinta, Reina Ueda as Suzune, and Saori
Hayami as Shirayuki.
- The production team includes
names such as Kazuya Aiura on direction at Yokohama
Animation Lab , Deko Akao on script writing and
supervision, Tarou Ikegami on character design and animation
direction, and the MONACA team on music composition.
- The story centers on Jinta, a
young man who acts as a guardian to a shrine maiden in a mountain village
during the Edo period. After confronting a demon who speaks of the
future, he embarks on a journey through time, from the Edo era to the
Heisei , as he seeks to understand the true meaning of wielding a
sword.
