This week,
the official X account (formerly Twitter) for Yoshifumi Tozuka's
"Undead Unluck" manga announced some exciting news for
fans: the twenty-seventh and final compiled book volume of the series
will contain five epilogue chapters, the first of which will be titled
"Unsung Hero." This final volume, along with the
twenty-sixth volume, is slated to ship in Japan this Friday.
Back in
February, it was announced that the final volume would include unpublished and
newly drawn chapters, generating great anticipation among series fans. This
revelation confirms that readers will be able to enjoy an expanded conclusion
and new stories that will complement the conclusion of this popular
action-fantasy work.
If you're
not familiar with this completed story, here are all the details:
- Yoshifumi Tozuka 's
" Undead Unluck " manga began as a one-shot in Shueisha 's Weekly
Shonen Jump magazine in January 2019. A year later, in
January 2020, it began serialization in the same magazine, ending on
January 27, 2025.
- The work has received
considerable acclaim. It placed 14th on the 2021 Kono Manga ga
Sugoi! list for male readers, a ranking that highlights the best
of the year. Additionally, in August 2020, it won the sixth Tsugi
ni Kuru Manga Taishō award , a prize that celebrates manga with
great potential and projection.
- The manga made the leap to the
big screen with an anime that premiered in October 2023 and concluded in
March 2024 with 24 episodes. But that's not all: in winter 2025, a
one-hour special will arrive featuring an original story written by
Tozuka, who also designed a new UMA (creature) exclusively for this
production.
- Fuuko dreams of an epic romance
like the ones in her favorite shojo series, but her "Unluck"
ability makes it difficult. When she's at her worst, Andy appears
and literally saves her, albeit with a twist: he uses her as a guinea pig
to create a stroke of bad luck so massive it kills him instantly. Plans
become complicated when a secret organization begins to pursue them,
putting Andy's desire for eternal peace on hold.
