Renowned illustrator  Yūsuke Murata announced on Wednesday, May 21, that the One-Punch Man manga will be taking a two-month hiatus due to "various circumstances." The series will reportedly resume publication on July 17 via Shueisha 's free Tonari no Young Jump web service .

This isn't the first time the series has gone on hiatus, as its serialization was also temporarily halted in June 2024. While the specific reasons for this new hiatus haven't been revealed, fans will have to wait until mid-summer to find out how Saitama 's story continues .

A series with history and legacy

One-Punch Man is a remake of the original webcomic created by ONE , and officially began serialization with art by Murata in 2012. Since then, the work has been a worldwide success, amassing tens of millions of readers and anime fans.

The 33rd compiled book volume was released on April 4 , cementing the series' popularity and continued popularity. In the Western market, Viz Media distributes the manga in both digital and print formats.

The anime and its long-awaited return

The One-Punch Man anime adaptation originally premiered in October 2015 and quickly became a phenomenon. Viz Media and Daisuki streamed the first season outside of Japan, while Toonami brought it to American television in July 2016 .

The second season arrived in April 2019 , with full distribution licensed in North America, Latin America, and Oceania under Viz Media, while Crunchyroll aired it in several regions across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Currently, it has been confirmed that the third season of the anime will premiere in October 2025 , with some of the original cast and crew returning to production.

Hollywood also wants a Saitama punch

The expansion of One-Punch Man is not limited to just manga and anime. In June 2022 , Deadline reported that Sony Pictures had hired Justin Lin to direct a live-action film based on the franchise. More recently, in April 2024 , The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the script is being rewritten by Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon , along with Heather Anne Campbell .

Despite the temporary hiatus, the One-Punch Man universe continues to grow both inside and outside of the manga, promising an explosive return this summer.
