On April
25 , illustrator Kenta Yuzuriha confirmed through his
social networks that the manga Outreijō , which he
creates together with author Keiso , will conclude with
its 37th chapter . That same day, chapter 35 was
published , so the end is very near.
A
yakuza-style body-swap comedy
Outreijō is an absurdist comedy
with body-swap elements , starring Eiji Shiokawa , a
yakuza member who, after a bus accident, wakes up in the body of a wealthy
schoolgirl. From there, he begins a hilarious struggle to fit into his new life
at an all-girls high school, while keeping his true identity a secret.
The series
launched in Hakusensha 's Young Animal magazine
in June 2023 , and has since been noted for its irreverent
humor and surreal situations. The third compiled book volume was
published on December 26, 2024 .
Keiso,
the creator behind the Ishura phenomenon
Outreijō writer Keiso is
best known for his work on the Ishura light novel
series , illustrated by Kureta . The series began online
publication in 2017 and was later published in print by Kadokawa in
September 2019.
Ishura was a smash hit in Japan,
topping all three categories in the 2021 edition of the Kono Light
Novel ga Sugoi! (This Light Novel Is Amazing!) guide. Due to its
popularity, the series received an anime adaptation in January 2024 ,
with the second season beginning on January 8 on
channels such as Tokyo MX and AT-X .
The novel
also has a manga adaptation released by Meguri in Monthly
Shonen Magazine since March 2021. Additionally, Yen
Press publishes the novel in English and has recently released it as
an audiobook through its Yen Audio imprint in October
2023 .
