The highly
anticipated anime adaptation of the popular webcomic "Let's Play,"
created by Leeanne M. Krecic (also known as Mongie), has revealed its first
trailer with English subtitles, along with the main cast and creative team, and
is scheduled to premiere in 2025. The series will be produced by the renowned
studio OLM, famous for franchises such as Pokémon and Komi-san wa, Komyushou
desu.
Voice
actress Kana Hanazawa will play Sam Young, the protagonist of this story that
blends romance, social anxiety, and gamer culture. Hanazawa is widely known for
her roles in titles such as Steins;Gate and the Monogatari Series.
The
Creative Team Behind the Project
The
director will be Daiki Tomiyasu, who previously worked on Pokémon Sun and Moon.
Ebimo, a designer at High Card, will be responsible for character design, while
Aya Matsui, known for Marmalade Boy, will handle series composition. Production
is being handled by Slowcurve.
World
Premiere at Anime Expo
Crunchyroll
will exclusively screen the world premiere of the first episode during Anime
Expo on July 3 (local time in Los Angeles, equivalent to the early hours of
July 4 in Spain). The event will feature author Mongie, director Tomiyasu, and
producers Heather Horn, Hana Sugawara, and Minaka Sakamoto.

Let's Play
debuted on the WEBTOON platform in 2016 and quickly became a hit. The third
season concluded in September 2022, after which the author announced that she
would cease publishing on WEBTOON due to issues with the platform, including
lack of promotion and pay inequalities.
The series
will return in the fall of 2025, although it has yet to be confirmed on which
platform. Meanwhile, publisher Rocketship Entertainment continues to publish
the series in physical format in English, having released the fourth volume in
July 2024.
