The
official website of the second season of the My Dress-Up Darling anime,
based on Shinichi Fukuda's manga, announced the closing theme of the new
installment. The song titled "Kawaii Kaiwai" will be
performed by PiKi, a musical unit consisting of Karen
Matsumoto of Fruits Zipper and Haruka
Sakuraba of Cutie Street.
To
celebrate this news, entertainer Saki Takahashi illustrated a
special image that accompanies the announcement. The song is being teased on
TikTok and will be available on music streaming platforms from July 4.
Release
details and availability
The second
season of My Dress-Up Darling will premiere on July 6
at midnight (Spanish time, UTC+2) on channels such as Tokyo
MX, BS11, Tochigi TV, and Gunma TV. In
addition, Crunchyroll will broadcast the anime simultaneously
on its streaming platform.
The
original manga began publication in Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine
in January 2018. The series rose to fame with its first animated adaptation,
broadcast in January 2022 with 12 episodes, and a live-action version that
debuted in Japan in October 2024.
The story
follows Wakana Gojō, a young traditional doll craftsman who, after
a trauma in his childhood, lives in isolation until Marin Kitagawa,
a vibrant and popular girl, introduces him to the world of cosplay, changing
his life completely.
Publications
and upcoming releases
Currently,
the manga continues with the Tenmei arc, which began in
January 2023, and its original ending was published on March 21, although it
will have extra chapters. Square Enix will release the 15th compiled volume
on July 25. In English, the publisher published volume 13 in April
and plans to release volume 14 on October 21.
