After the
broadcast of the final episode in Japan, the official accounts of the anime
From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman shared two special videos
announcing the arrival of a second season scheduled for 2026.
This new installment will continue the story of master swordsman Beryl
Gardinant.
Creative
team and details of the first cycle
The first
season was directed by Akio Kazumi at Passione and Hayabusa
Film studios. The series was composed by Kunihiko Okada,
known for his work on The Eminence in Shadow. The character designs
and the main animation direction were done by Satsuki Hayasaki,
while the music was composed by Yasuharu Takanashi, a composer also
recognized for Fairy Tail.
Official
synopsis and origin in light novels
According
to the official English version published by J-Novel Club, the
story follows Beryl Gardinant, a humble old swordmaster in a remote
village. Although in his youth he dreamed of glory, his life took an unexpected
turn when a former student arrives with the news that he has been appointed
special instructor of the knights of the Order of Liberion.
Reuniting with his former disciples—including elite knights, an expert mage,
and a high-ranking adventurer—Beryl faces a new challenge, questioning whether
he still has what it takes to fulfill his new role and find some peace among
his devoted students.
