This Sunday, Kadokawa revealed that the controversial anime Nukitashi The Animation, an adaptation of the adult visual novel Nuki-Gee Mitai na Shima ni Sunderu Hinnyū (Watashi) wa Dō Surya Ii Desuka? by Qruppo, will premiere on television on July 18 at 7:05 p.m. (Spanish time), through the Japanese channel AT-X. In addition, it was confirmed that the anime will have three different versions, adapted to the type of platform and level of censorship allowed.

Three versions with different levels of explicit content

  • "Seiran Island" Version: The most explicit and without restrictions. It will air on AT-X and will be available on Blu-ray Disc.
  • Streaming version: It includes partial censorship with respect to the version without restrictions. It will be available on specific streaming platforms.
  • Fully regulated version: With a higher level of censorship, it will be broadcast on free-to-air television channels such as BS11, Gifu Broadcasting, KBS Kyoto and Mie TV.

It is possible that some voice actresses from the adult game will return for this adaptation, albeit under their real names. However, this information has not been officially confirmed.

Creative team behind the project

The animation is being produced by studio Passione, with Nobuyoshi Nagayama (Vampire DormitoryHappy Sugar Life) directing. The series is written and composed by Kenta Ihara (TsukimichiMieruko-chan), who is directly supervised by the game's original writers, Naoto Kurahone and Yū Kamichika of Qruppo.

The character design was done by Kumata, and the music will be composed by a team made up of Hakushaku EbikareSasa IkekiUmigame and Kashiko. Creator Hamedori-kun, a key figure within Qruppo, acts as the project's general supervisor.

A controversial game turned cultural phenomenon

Nukitashi was originally released as a visual novel for adults in 2018, and it quickly became a hit thanks to its mix of humor, social criticism, and eroticism. The story is set on the fictional Seiran Island, where an extreme law forces its inhabitants to engage in sexual activity. The protagonist joins a resistance group called No Love No Sex, determined to overthrow the evil system that dominates the island.

The game gained great recognition in Japan, receiving awards for Best Screenplay and Best New Brand at the 2018 Moe Game Awards. Its sequel, Nukitashi 2, was released in 2019, and both installments are available in English thanks to Shiravune, on platforms such as Johren and Steam.
