The publisher Shueisha has confirmed that the manga Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective (Kamonohashi Ron no Kindan Suiri), created by Akira Amano, will end with the publication of its last chapter on July 6.

This announcement marks the closure of a work that has kept its readers intrigued since its release in October 2020 through the Shonen Jump+ platform. The manga has so far 17 compilation volumes, the most recent being published on June 4.

An unconventional detective story

The story follows a singular duo: Ron Kamonohashi, a brilliant but emotionally unstable private detective, and Totomaru Ishiki, a police officer with a good heart but little wit. Together, they take on the most complex and perplexing cases, combining logic, instinct, and moments of utter chaos.

The work is described as "a detective thriller for a new generation", and represents the return of Akira Amano, known for hits such as Katekyo Hitman Reborn! and ēlDLIVE, to the mystery genre with a modern and lighthearted approach.

Multiplatform success: from manga to anime and theater

The success of the play was not limited to the role. In October 2023, the first season of its anime adaptation was released under the title Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions, available on Crunchyroll. The animated series premiered its second season on October 7, also broadcast simultaneously on the platform.

Additionally, in November 2023, the franchise inspired a play that was presented in Tokyo and Osaka, further expanding its impact within Japanese audiences.

Available in English via MANGA Plus

International readers have been able to enjoy the manga thanks to the MANGA Plus platform, which has published the work digitally in English since its first chapters. With the ending already announced, fans will have the opportunity to see how the final mystery surrounding this eccentric detective is solved.

The outcome of Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective will mark the end of a stage for fans of mystery, black humor and deductions that defy all logic.
