As the end of its second season approaches, the anime The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) has revealed its latest and final seasonal visual, a tradition that began in July 2024 and that each month has celebrated the plants and flowers representative of the season.

Maomao and Jinshi among hydrangeas and snails

This month's visual, corresponding to June, shows protagonists Maomao and Jinshi sharing a peaceful scene amid hydrangeas in full bloom. In a charming detail, they both discover a small snail, a classic symbol of the beginning of summer and the rainy season in Japan.

A project visually taken care of down to the last detail

This botanical homage has been one of the anime's standout visual features since the second season, adding an artistic and seasonal touch that complements its historical setting and delicate narrative.

The production is in charge of the TOHO animation STUDIO and OLM studios, under the direction of Norihiko Naganuma (The Ancient Magus' Bride), who is also in charge of the composition of the series. The assistant director is Akinori Fudesaka (Tsuredure Children).

A history of intelligence, medicine and palace secrets

The story follows Maomao, a young woman who lived quietly with her apothecary father, until she is sold as a servant to the imperial palace. Although at first she seems to resign herself to her new life, her brilliant mind and medical knowledge lead her to solve mysterious illnesses among members of the nobility.

Her talent catches the attention of Jinshi, a senior palace official, who promotes her and opens the doors to even more complex challenges in a world where politics, medicine and mystery are intertwined.

Availability and original material

The anime is available through Crunchyroll, which broadcasts the series simultaneously with Japan. It is based on the light novel written by Natsu Hyuuga and illustrated by Touko Shino, a work that has gained popularity for its unique blend of history, medicine, and palace drama.
