This year's
33rd issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine
confirmed Wednesday that the manga Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (Sōsō
no Frieren) will return from its hiatus on July 23.
The work,
written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa
Abe, had begun this latest hiatus in January. Interestingly,
the comeback comes almost exactly half a year after their most recent hiatus.
A
history marked by interruptions
The manga
had already resumed serialization briefly in late December 2024, after a
two-week hiatus that began in November. However, he went on hiatus again from
May until now, which has kept fans expectant for his return.
Frieren:
Beyond Journey's End debuted
in April 2020 in Weekly Shonen Sunday. Since then, he has faced
several major pauses, including another in January 2023, although on that
occasion he only lasted until March.
Shogakukan published the first
compilation volume in August 2020, and volume 14 went on sale on March
18 of this year. In English, Viz Media distributes
the manga and released volume 13 on May 13.
The
anime is preparing for its second season
The anime
adaptation of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End premiered in
September 2023 with a two-hour special, and quickly became one of the most
acclaimed series of that year. Currently, a second season is
in production, which is scheduled to premiere in January 2026.
With the
manga's return to the pages of Weekly Shonen Sunday, readers will
once again follow the emotional adventures of the elf wizard Frieren and her
introspective journey through a world after the epic battle against the Demon
King.
