In this year's 15th edition of Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine, it was announced that the manga Bokura no Natsu ga Saketeiku, the joint work of screenwriter Arata Miyatsuki and artist Kentarō Satō, will end in just two chapters.

A disturbing story on an island marked by fear

This horror thriller set on a remote island follows Itsuki, who returns to his hometown on Sengetsu Island after years of absence, moved by the accident that leaves his younger sister, Mayu, seriously injured. However, when he arrives, he finds an unsettling atmosphere: strict health measures against COVID-19, such as the use of a mask even when eating. One night, Itsuki witnesses something strange near his house. What dark secret lies behind the island's over-the-top paranoia?

A recent but intense collaboration

The series launched in August 2023, with Miyatsuki in charge of the script and Satō in the visual art that gave it the style we know now. Hakusensha published the first compilation volume in February 2024, and the fourth digital volume on May 29.

Trajectories marked by psychological horror

Kentarō Satō is widely known for his disturbing manga Magical Girl Site, which was adapted into anime in 2018. His most recent work, Immortality and Punishment (Fushi to Batsu), ended on March 12, with its eighth volume released on June 6. In addition, Yen Press will launch its English edition from January 20, 2026.

For his part, Arata Miyatsuki has worked on multiple projects. His work Funōhan (Impossibility Defense) was published between 2013 and 2020, and was adapted into both a film and a miniseries in 2017. He also collaborated with Ochau on the Kyosei Tensei manga, which ended in April 2023.

A countdown to the final mystery

With only two chapters remaining, Bokura no Natsu ga Saketeiku prepares to reveal the truth behind the strange happenings in Sengetsu. A work that has maintained the tension until the last moment, and that promises an outcome as disturbing as its premise.
