Waifus and Mechas: Original Vertex Force Anime Reveals Trailer, Cast and Premiere for October

If you mix cute girls, impressive mechanical costumes and battles for the fate of the universe, you have the perfect recipe to attract the attention of the otaku community. The production committee behind the original Vertex Force anime finally uncovered all its cards, revealing a spectacular promotional video that confirms its landing on Japanese television for this coming October 3.

Far from being the typical invincible protagonist, the story puts us in the shoes of Akira Todo, a high school student who lives a peaceful life in the northern part of Okinawa with his mother and his older sister, Haruka. The great family drama lies in the fact that Haruka inherited from her late father a mysterious power known simply as "Engine", while Akira was born a completely normal boy, which generates a huge inferiority complex. Their quiet routine of tending to the family cafeteria goes to hell when strange world events begin to unfold and unknown enemies threaten to destroy Earth, forcing these young people to carry the fate of the entire universe on their backs.

A first-class technical team

To ensure that the action sequences are an absolute visual delight, the animation was left in charge of the SMDE studio under the meticulous direction of Kazuhiro Takamura, an industry veteran famous for gems such as Strike Witches and Vividred Operation, who is also in charge of the character designs. The mechanical section is not far behind, counting on the immense talent of Kanetake Ebikawa and JNTHED (both recognized for their masterful work in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury) to design the weaponry and suits. Adding to this enormous display of talent, the production gave us a preview of the main stars of its voice cast.

Voice cast

  • Makoto Koichi como Akira Todo.
  • Kaede Hondo as Haruka Todo
  • Ami Koshimizu como Eleanor Northbrook.
  • Megumi Han como Lala Zudenstein.
  • Rie Takahashi como Yoko Nishina.

Knowing that the current industry usually punishes the original mecha anime harshly if they fail to hook the viewer in their first three episodes
