Production
Details
The
original Ranma 1/2 manga was serialized by Shogakukan in Weekly
Shonen Sunday magazine between 1987 and 1996, accumulating a total of
38 volumes. In this new television version, MAPPA is in charge
of the animation, under the direction of Konosuke Ueda. Kimiko
Ueno oversees the composition of the series, Hiromi Taniguchi designs
the characters, and Kaoru Wada composes the music. Currently,
the first season is available on Netflix.
Story
that mixes romance and comedy
The story
follows Ranma Saotome, a young martial artist who suffers from a
peculiar curse: when he comes into contact with cold water he transforms into a
girl, and only returns to his male form with hot water. Added to this is the
promise of his father, who agreed that Ranma would marry one of Soun
Tendo's daughters, which begins an endless chain of entanglements,
combats and comical situations.
