The
publisher Sublime Manga has confirmed that it will release two
outstanding works of the boys' love (BL) genre in English
during 2026. These are Satomichi's Bride of the Shark Clan,
which will arrive on June 9, and Enjo's Forest
of the Rabbits, which is scheduled to launch on July 14.
Bride of
the Shark Clan (original
title: Samezoku e no Sasagemono) debuted in 2021 in
Takeshobo's Moment magazine, and to date has three compilation
volumes. This story mixes ancestral rituals, desire and bodily changes in
a plot that leaves no one indifferent.
Avel: a
story as wild as it is provocative
According
to the original description, the story follows Avel, son of the
leader of the Tangata Clan, who rejects the annual agreement that obliges his
people to hand over a young man to the Miyaru Clan. When he is saved from a
beast by Tukiri, a member of the rival clan, he is baffled by his
kindness. But when Tukiri detects his blood, his wild instinct is unleashed. In
Avel's world, the first intimate encounter defines his gender: if he is
"taken as a woman," he will become one. This tension between duty,
desire and identity explodes in a story full of eroticism and internal
conflict.
Forest
of the Rabbits: Evolving Friendship
The second
title announced, Forest of the Rabbits (original title: Usagi
no Mori), is a much more introspective story. Initially published in Taiyo
Tosho's Craft magazine in 2018, this work already has two
compiled volumes. The plot revolves around two childhood friends whose
relationship begins to transform when one of them discovers that his feelings
have changed.
With a more
emotional and leisurely tone, this work addresses the discovery of love
in the transition to adulthood, facing the confusion and fears that come
with opening the heart to someone who has always been present.
A
commitment to emotional diversity
With these
releases, Sublime Manga reaffirms its commitment to bring BL stories to
the West that break the mold, exploring everything from physical
transformation to the most human emotions. Undoubtedly, 2026 is shaping up to
be a key year for fans of the genre.
