The GATE universe
is back. The sequel GATE 2: Tides of Conflict presented this
Friday a first visual teaser that shows a new stage of the story, focused on
the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and set mainly in ocean
scenarios.
The team
behind the sequel
The
production is in charge of Studio M2, with Toru Takahashi as
director and Tatsuhiko Urahata in the composition of the
series and script, returning after his participation in the first season. The
character design is in charge of Shigeru Fujita, with the
production cooperation of GENCO.
A
phenomenon that continues to grow
GATE:
Jieitai Kano Chi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri was born as a series of novels by Takumi
Yanai, with illustrations by Daisuke Izuka and Kurojishi. Originally
published online between 2006 and 2009, it was picked up by AlphaPolis in 2010.
By June 2024, the work exceeded 7.3 million copies in circulation, including
digital editions.
From
novels to anime
The manga
illustrated by Satoru Sao began in 2011 and gave way to
several spin-offs in 2015. The saga was subsequently adapted into anime in 2015
and 2016, cementing GATE as one of the most talked-about
military fantasy stories of the decade.
